Holy week is the week before, including Easter Sunday.

On the Friday before the start of Holy Week, Jesus went to Bethany, to be with Mary, Martha and Lazarus. There Mary anointed Jesus' feet with precious perfume (John 12:1-11).

Holy week begins with Palm Sunday, the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem in glory, as Christians placed palm branches on His path (Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, John 12:12-19, Zechariah 9:9, Psalm 118:25-26).

On Monday, Jesus went to the temple and found money changers and greedy merchants defiling His Father's house. He cleared the temple (Matthew 21:10-17, Mark 11:15-18, Luke 19:45-48).

Busy Tuesday Jesus' enemies tried, unsuccessfully, in Jerusalem, to trap Him in His teachings. Then He taught in parables on the Mount of Olives (Matthew 21:23-24:51, Mark 11:27-13:37, Luke 20-21).

Maundy Thursday is the day that Jesus had His Last Supper, the Passover meal, with His disciples (Matthew 26:17-30, Mark 14:12-26Luke 22:7-38, John 13:1-30). We commemorate this meal each time we partake of His body and blood, with the bread and wine, in Holy Communion. Later on this night, Jesus was betrayed and arrested (Matthew 26:47-56, Mark 14:32-51, Luke 22:47-53).

Good Friday is the day that Jesus suffered and died on the cross, on Golgotha ("the place of the skull"), to pay for all of our sins (Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, John 18:19-19:42).

Holy week leads us to Easter Sunday, the day that Jesus rose from the dead (Matthew 28:1-10). His resurrection insures that our sins are covered, and we too will live again, eternally, in Heaven!
